Ceppineri 2018 awarded the Corona by Vinibuoni d'Italia!

News ed Eventi Baglio Oro

Our Ceppineri Nero d’Avola Riserva DOC has been awarded the Corona by Vinibuoni d’Italia, the guide published by the Touring Club Italiano.

What is the Corona

The Corona is the highest recognition of excellence awarded by the guide to wines. It is conferred exclusively to wines made from native grape varieties that achieve the highest scores in the selections and pass the final blind tastings.

The process is divided into several stages. The wines are first evaluated on a regional basis by the guide's panels. Those that exceed a certain score threshold advance to the final stage, where the tasting takes place blind: the tasters do not know either the producer or the price of the bottle. Only the wines that confirm their rating in this session as well receive the Crown.

Why the native grape variety restriction matters

Vinibuoni d’Italia was created with a specific editorial line: to promote Italy's native grape varieties. Unlike other guides, it does not admit wines produced with international varieties to the selection. This makes the Corona an award that also measures adherence to the territory, not just the technical quality of the wine.

For Sicily, this means highlighting the island's historical varieties and the work of the companies that have chosen to continue cultivating them.

The recognition for Baglio Oro

For our winery, the Corona is confirmation of a production approach built over time: working with local grape varieties through careful agronomic practices and vinifications that respect their profile, without any forcing.

Thanks to those who work in the vineyard and the cellar every day, and to those who continue to choose us.
